Auxiliary/Volunteer Services
The members of the Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine Volunteer Auxiliary have been sharing their time and talents for over 26 years. This year the Volunteer Auxiliary financially supported the Memory Garden for Early Pregnancy Loss, contributed funds to purchase artwork for several areas in the hospital, and provided two $3,000 scholarships to two local high school seniors. In fiscal year 2009, volunteers provided 33,263 hours of services. Throughout 2009, 241 adults, 63 junior volunteers (summer) and 91 clinical rotation students volunteered their time at Baylor Grapevine.
School Programs
Strengthening the well being of children is more important than ever, as more children are overweight and at risk of developing chronic health conditions. Baylor Grapevine partners with area school districts to provide mentoring, presentations, tours and educational outreach to students. These programs create awareness on the importance of good health habits to support a healthy body and reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
Collaborating with Area School Districts
With childhood obesity and chronic health conditions affecting an increasing number of children, Baylor Grapevine is committed and focused on keeping the community educated and informed. The hospital collaborates with area school districts to provide mentoring, presentations, tours and educational outreach for their students. These programs create awareness on the importance of healthy habits. In fiscal year 2009, Baylor Grapevine provided outreach to more than 30 schools in the following districts: Carroll, Grapevine-Colleyville, HEB, Keller, Lewisville and Northwest.
Developing Future Health Care Professionals
As a result of the rapidly growing demand for nurses and allied health professionals, Baylor Grapevine coordinates an innovative outreach program to present health care as a long-term and exciting career. Research shows that children decide what they want to be when they grow up as early as the fifth grade. Through targeted programming, specific to grade level, Baylor Grapevine seeks to inspire young hearts and minds to pursue a dynamic and challenging career in health care.
Health Education and Wellness
Baylor Grapevine participates in local health fairs and hosts two of its own each year. These popular events, For Women, For Life and It’s a Guy Thing, provide women and men alike with the tools and information they need to take control of their health.
Attendees are provided free health screenings and assessments that include cholesterol, glucose, body fat analysis, blood pressure, pulmonary function and osteoporosis heel screens. They can also visit department booths to receive a host of information on cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, weight management, women and children services and physical medicine. Baylor Grapevine also offers a live physician question-and-answer session where attendees can have their medical questions answered by physicians on the medical staff.
Civic Partnerships
Community involvement through partnerships with civic organizations is a priority for Baylor Grapevine. Baylor Grapevine is a member of nine area chambers of commerce and plays an active role in participating in programs for each.Baylor Grapevine participates in the following area chamber of commerces:

Community Health Subsidies
During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2009 Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine provided $34,860,187 in unreimbursed cost of charity care, Medicaid and other government sponsored health care services in accordance with Texas Health and Safety Code section 311.
